Argomenti del programma: The course combines theoretical foundations with an applied and design-oriented perspective. Particular attention is devoted to understanding the assumptions underlying each empirical strategy, assessing the credibility of identification designs, and interpreting empirical results critically.

Argomenti del programma: The course conveys crucial steps to develop a rigorous and relevant research project: formulating the research problem and research question based on an accurate literature review and on the current empirical need; the need for theory building; the choice of the research design; how to collect data and how conduct empirical analyses; and how to communicate the outcomes.

Argomenti del programma: Preferences and consumers’ choice: budget constraint, utility function, indifference curves; utility maximization and individual demand functions; income effect and substitution effect; optimal choice with income expressed in form of good endowments; leisure-labor choice; Intertemporal choice: the discounted utility model. Choice under uncertainty: the expected utility model; attitude towards risk.
