Argomenti del programma: This course examines global politics from a sociological perspective, focusing on the structures, processes, and conflicts that shape contemporary global order. It analyzes how political dynamics unfold through interactions between states, international organizations, social movements, religious actors, and transnational networks. The course is organized in four parts.

• In-class primary sources. Each instructor may also introduce primary sources in class – for example, excerpts from Marx’s Communist Manifesto, contemporary speeches, declarations, treaties, or short audio/podcast materials.

Argomenti del programma: The course deals with the main historical events of the last two centuries, primarily through a chronological approach. The first half of the course (Weeks 1–6) covers the long nineteenth century and the interwar period; the second half (Weeks 7–12) is devoted to the Second World War, the Cold War, and the contemporary international order. Throughout the semester, the syllabus may be slightly modified.
